TALLWOOD is the name used by of one of the most generous benefactors of education and healthcare in the Hartford area with a special emphasis on helping the returning veterans who suffer from the invisible wounds of war. Being a lover of animals, in particular dogs and horses, Tallwood understands the canine/human bond and the positive impact of canine therapy used in the treatment of our wounded warriors who suffer from Post-traumatic stress (PTS) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Tallwood was the original benefactor of the Warrior Canine Connection: a non-profit outside of Washington, DC that utilizes dog therapy in helping to heal our wounded warriors; Tallwood established the Tallwood Military Scholarship at the Kingswood Oxford School: a full scholarship given to a child whose parents served in the military post 9/11.

Tallwood now presents its biggest achievement, the production of When War Comes Home. It is a film that tells the story of our soldiers as they try to assimilate back into society while they deal with their invisible wounds of war. They now face the biggest battle of their lives and this film is dedicated to raise awareness, educate, provide help and hope as they struggle in their personal fight for freedom from the debilitating effects of (PTS) and (TBI).

The National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) is a U.S. Department of Defense institute dedicated to providing cutting-edge evaluation, treatment planning, research, and education for servicemembers and their families dealing with the complex interactions of mild traumatic brain injury and psychological health conditions. They have offered their full support to the makers of When War Comes Homes, and will allow filmmakers to explore their facilities and interview staff and patients.

The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is one of the nation’s largest and most renowned military medical centers.The center leads military medicine through outstanding patient-centered care, innovation, and excellence in education and research. Their goal is to provide comprehensive care in order to prevent disease, restore health, and maximize readiness. The medical center is excited to be partners in this project and will also provide invaluable knowledge and human resources to the filmmakers as the film is produced.

The International Documentary Association (IDA) is a non-profit organization that promotes nonfiction filmmakers, and it is dedicated to increasing public awareness of the documentary genre. IDA believes that the power and artistry of documentary filmmaking are vital to cultures and societies globally, and IDA understands the power of film to inform the public and change the national discussion.

The United States’ Department of Defense (DoD) has approved and offered their official support to When War Comes Home. The DoD understands the importance of the issue of PTS and TBI, and it realizes the significant effect this film can have on increased public awareness and support and, ultimately, on the lives and conditions of veterans.

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) is the voice of one of the country’s strongest and most vibrant industries, the American motion picture, home video, and television industry. MPAA aspires to advance the business and the art of filmmaking, and it celebrates the enjoyment of film around the world. MPAA members include Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Paramount Pictures Corporation, Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, Universal City Studios LLC, and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.

The PsychArmor Institute is a nonprofit that provides free education and support for all Americans to engage effectively with the military community. PsychArmor recruits nationally recognized subject matter experts to create and deliver online courses about issues relevant to the military and veteran communities. Our self-paced courses are delivered within six schools geared toward military culture, healthcare providers, employers, educators, volunteers, caregivers and families. We provide critical resources to all Americans who work with, live with, and care about Veterans.

When War Comes Home is available to students, teachers, and librarians on the Kanopy streaming service. Kanopy is a video streaming service offering more than 26,000 films to over 3,000 higher education campuses worldwide, reaching millions of students around the globe.
